Time to Say Goodbye
Time to say goodbye
Saying goodbye to a loved pet can be one of the most difficult times of our lives. That is why our team feel passionately about creating an open, honest and trusting environment for you to make difficult decisions like euthanasia.
Although the final decision will always lie with you, our vets are committed to helping guide you to make decisions that are best for your pet- which can sometimes be to say goodbye.
What happens during a euthanasia appointment?
Your pet will be assessed, you can talk to the vet and a consent form will be signed.
Our vets will discuss post-euthanasia care for your pet, including cremation options, home burial, etc.
Your pet may be sedated to keep the process as stress-free as possible. An IV catheter is placed in their leg, and the final medicine is given through the catheter for minimal pain or discomfort.
Does it hurt?
The euthanasia process is not painful for your pet. We use a combination of sedative and anaesthetic medicines to ensure your pet is comfortable and pain-free throughout.
Can I take my pet home to be buried?
Home burial is one of the post-euthanasia care options, and you can absolutely do this if you have private land to bury them on.
Otherwise, we have both routine and individual cremation options with our colleagues at Pet Crem Larkhall.
I have another question…
As pet owners ourselves, we know how many questions come into your head during these difficult moments.
